Hello my fellow bookworms! I can’t tell you how good it feels to be publishing another Wrap-Up post. Although they’re probably not the most interesting kind of posts to read, I find it very therapeutic to collect my thoughts on the last month, and see how much I was able to get done.
Most recently, my bookish attention has been focused on attempting to limit the number of books I buy. I’m guessing this is a problem for almost everyone reading this post, but it’s a really difficult one for me. Just check out some of my past wrap-ups to see what my hauls looked like! In order to try to lower my TBR and limit my spending, I came up with a book-buying ban – of a sort. In a nut shell, I only buy one book for every two books that I actually read. So far, it hasn’t been going too badly!

- Song of the Current – + 1/2
This was the very first e-ARC I’ve ever received, so that alone was exciting! But I also really loved this book, it’s definitely on my top reads of 2017 list. It’s full of swashbuckling adventure, high-stakes political intrigue, and an adorable romance that I couldn’t get enough of!
2. Always and Forever, Lara Jean – + 1/2
Ah, one of my most anticipated reads of the year. This one is a real toughie for me in terms of rating, I decided on 3.5 stars, but once I get around to writing my actual review it might change. I have to say, I was disappointed by this. I just didn’t think the story was as fun or interesting as the previous books, and, for personal reasons, all the stuff about college really stressed me out. BUT, I loved reading more about Lara Jean’s baking and her family, and it held all the charm that the other books did. So stay tuned for my upcoming review!
3. Shatter Me –
Another very interesting read for the month that I can’t quite put my finger on. After I pulled this title from my book jar, I decided to finally give it a shot. I bought the e-book eons ago, and it proceeded to remain on my mountainous TBR for a few years. But so many people love this series, and while I wasn’t entirely hooked by the story (I thought the romance was a bit overkill), I can’t wait to continue with the sequels!
4. Destroy Me (not pictured, I ran out of devices to display stuff on lol) –
After finishing Shatter Me, I decided to jump right into this novella. I read through some of the reviews on Goodreads beforehand to see if it was worth reading, and I can definitively say the answer is yes! If you’re planning on reading this whole series, you should pick up the novellas. Destroy Me gave us a look into Warner and his dark past, and helps explain why he does all of things he does in Shatter Me. I have a feeling it’s going to be quite vital in understanding his actions in the next book.
Overall, not a bad reading month! Especially considering I had exams the whole first half.
Books I Hauled
Clicking on a book’s title will take you to its Goodreads page
- Mask of Shadows (eARC; not pictured)
- Always and Forever, Lara Jean
- Ramona Blue
- The Moon & More (I bought this one on an unfortunate whim at Target and had to DNF after 70 pages cause the story was so boring. Definitely not worth breaking my ban for!)
- How to Make a Wish (eARC; not pictured)
- Gray Wolf Island (eARC; not pictured)
- When Dimple Met Rishi (SO EXCITED FOR THIS ONE YOU GUYS)
- Destroy Me
Not too shabby if I do say so myself! It might look like a big haul, but I’ve already read a handful of these, and most are eARCS that I received for review. Also, sorry for the crappy photo quality, I didn’t have time to edit it!
Around the Interwebs
Surprisingly, I’ve been keeping up with bookstagram pretty well! I don’t post 100 times a day like some bookstagrammers, but I post at least a few times a week and for me that’s really good! Previously, I would just post in spurts and then go long periods of time before posting again. At least for the last few months, I’ve been able to keep to a semi-regular schedule. I’ve been desperately trying to reach 1.6K followers for the last two weeks or so (literally I’m like 5 followers away), so hopefully I can reach that goal very soon! Additionally, I revamped my Tumblr blog! I’m not quite as active on there as Twitter or Instagram, but I’ve been doing my best to keep up with the accounts I follow and post my photos. I really like the new look of my Tumblr, I think it matches my Instagram a lot more. If you also have a booklr, definitely go check out my page, I’m always looking for new people to follow! Additionally, I joined Netgalley! I’ve already been approved for a few ARCs and I’m really excited to start reviewing them! I will say though, the temptation to request everything in sight may becoming a problem, lol.
As you guys may or may not know, I recently took about a month-long hiatus from blogging due to exams. Well, I’m happy to report that everything went well! The time I took off was definitely necessary and well-spent. Of course, I won’t know my scores for a while, but I felt like I did the very best I could. Now I just have to wait. BUT – my junior year is officially complete! And I have more than two whole months to focus on the things that I truly love, namely this blog! My overall goal for the summer is to post twice a week regularly. I’m predicting that some weeks I may be able to even post three or four times, while other weeks I might not get to post anything. But hopefully an average of two will work out well. I currently have a back-log of post ideas, so that should keep me going for a bit! Aside from blogging, I plan to spend my summer reading, writing my college essay, performing with my musical theater studio, and maybe traveling just a smidge.
This month: 4 books read towards my goal of 40
This month: 1 book read towards my goal of 12 (Shatter Me)
