My First ARC August!

Last year, before I started this blog, I saw some readers on bookstagram and Twitter participating in #ARCAugust. I thought it was pretty cool to have so many ARCs that you needed a whole month dedicated to reading them. Little did I know, a year later I’d be in that exact situation (I have Netgalley to thank for that)!

#ARCAugust is a yearly event hosted by Read. Sleep. Repeat. Here are the rules for participating:

  • Any Advanced Reading Copy counts as part of this reading challenge; your backlist books count
  • No blog necessary to participate, but you’ll need to include some form of social media as part of your sign up
  • Use the #ARCAugust on social media to check-in

Having a long list of fall ARCs to read is both a blessing and a curse, I have a decent handful that I’m really excited about but not nearly enough time to read them all before their releases. So I’m hoping to kick some reading butt in August and knock out a bunch of those ARCs! Here’s my tentative TBR for the month, it’s a bit adventurous considering school starts back up on the 10th, but I just have to stay focused!

Clicking on a book’s title will take you to its Goodreads page.

Little & Lion by Brandy Colbert / August 8th

I recently got a physical ARC of this in the mail, I don’t know a whole lot about it but it seems like a really emotional contemporary with an intriguing premise! It also appears to have a F/F romance, so I’m excited to read this.

The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding by Alexandra Bracken / Sept. 5th

I was pretty surprised to get approved for this on Netgalley, since any book by Alex Bracken is bound to be in high demand. But this sounds like a hilarious, adventure-filled middle grade novel, a genre that I haven’t read in a very long time! I also really liked the Passenger series, so I’m eager to read more from Alex.

Girls Made of Snow and Glass by Melissa Bashardoust / Sept. 5th

I was thrilled to win an ARC of this book through an Instagram giveaway, it’s a Snow White retelling that doesn’t sound like anything I’ve seen before. I can’t wait to read it!

MOXIE by Jennifer Mathieu / Sept. 19th

I flipped out when I saw this book was available for a Read Now download on Netgalley! Moxie is probably one of my most anticipated reads this year, a book about a girl that starts a feminist revolution at her school?! All I can say is that I’ll probably be taking notes for me and my school, LOL.

And that’s my list! If I have any extra time (which I highly doubt), the next ARC I’ll read is Invictus, which I got through Netgalley! Even if I can’t get to it during August, I’m hoping to read it soon, I keep hearing so many amazing things about it!

  1. Ahhhh these ARCs look and sound fantastic!! I literally just pre-wrote my ARC August TBR post and I’m quite excited to participate!

And I was too late to notice the Read Now thing for Moxie but I’ve requested it and keeping my fingers crossed that I’ll get approved! I hope you’ll enjoy all of these ❤️

    1. I can’t wait to see what’s on your TBR! And I’ll make sure to keep my fingers crossed that you get approved for Moxie! I was lucky enough to be on my phone when the email came in, so I moved as fast as I could and snagged it!

  2. I hope you like Little & Lion!! I’m so excited for it.

I don’t do major TBRs because it always messes me up, but I’m hoping to get to Beasts Made of Midnight and some other ARCs I’m behind on.

    1. Thanks!! And I don’t usually do TBRs either, they’re tough to stick to. But hopefully I can make it through this one! Good luck getting to some of your ARCs this upcoming month! ❤️

    1. You should give it a shot! I can’t personally say anything about the experience since this will be my first time participating too, but it can’t hurt to knock some of those ARCs out. And I’m hoping Prosper Redding doesn’t disappoint, I definitely love the cover too!

    1. I’ve heard a lot about those ARCs, I hope you enjoy them! And I hope you’re having a great time with #ARCAugust so far!
