Hellooo friends! I’m getting tired of having to start every post with an apology and explanation for why I haven’t been posting, but we’ll just chalk it up to the fact that college – and 2018 as a whole – has been reeeal crappy to me. Hopefully in the new year, I can get all the technical issues worked out with this blog and post more frequently, because I really miss interacting with you all!
Today, I’m here to present to you the ultimate race against time. A mad dash against the laws of bookish physics. I, the biggest mess of a book blogger and bookstagrammer in history, am actually attempting to stick to a TBR to meet my Goodreads goal.
And, as of right now, I’m actually sticking to it.
I know, start knocking on all the wood in your house and perform your spiritualist rituals, because I feel like even writing that sentence out has jinxed me and will make it all go away. But my goal for the year was to read 45 books, and I’m currently on book number 37.
Soooo, it’s not impossible. I can feel it, just out of reach. I have to read 9 books in exactly 14 days, or two weeks. So here’s the list of books I have tentatively planned out to read! Just click on the covers to be taken to their Goodreads pages.

Hi friends! I hope you’ve all been reading great books and enjoying the fall season, I know that Christmas lights and sleigh-bell songs can’t come soon enough for me. This past weekend I got a much-needed break from school during a short trip to Charleston for my third year in a row at the one-and-only YALLFest!
For once, I actually got some (decent) photos and have the opportunity to write about it, so I figured I’d share some of the highlights from my trip along with a few tips and tricks for those that are considering going next year or to another big book event!

Title: Empress of All Seasons
Author: Emiko Jean
Genre: YA fantasy
Pub. Date: Nov. 6, 2018
Synopsis: In a palace of illusions, nothing is what it seems.
Each generation, a competition is held to find the next empress of Honoku. The rules are simple. Survive the palace’s enchanted seasonal rooms. Conquer Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. Marry the prince. All are eligible to compete—all except yōkai, supernatural monsters and spirits whom the human emperor is determined to enslave and destroy.
Mari has spent a lifetime training to become empress. Winning should be easy. And it would be, if she weren’t hiding a dangerous secret. Mari is a yōkai with the ability to transform into a terrifying monster. If discovered, her life will be forfeit. As she struggles to keep her true identity hidden, Mari’s fate collides with that of Taro, the prince who has no desire to inherit the imperial throne, and Akira, a half-human, half-yōkai outcast.
Torn between duty and love, loyalty and betrayal, vengeance and forgiveness, the choices of Mari, Taro, and Akira will decide the fate of Honoku in this beautifully written, edge-of-your-seat YA fantasy.
